The local chapter of the national Rotary Young Photographer competition. The club holds its own annual competition for young people, often with winners from local schools like Velmead Junior School, and promotes entries to the district and national finals. The competition is open to young people aged 17 or under, encourages interpretation of a specific theme, and allows for both digital and traditional photography, including smartphone cameras.
The Rotary Club of Hart participates in the annual Rotary Young Writer competition. The competition for 2025-2026 is currently open, with the theme of "Happiness in Nature".
The competition is a three-stage process: local club heats, district finals, and a national final. The Rotary Club of Hart has previously had entrants achieve success at the national level.
RYLA, which stands for, is a leadership development program for young people run by the Rotary organization. Participants attend intensive courses, camps, or workshops sponsored by local Rotary clubs, where they develop leadership skills through team-based challenges, problem-solving activities, and discussions. The program aims to build confidence, communication, and problem-solving abilities in young people aged 14 to 30, with a focus on preparing them for leadership roles in their communities and careers.
The example below comes from a RYLA leadership training event in the US and provides a good example of what we provide.
